opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

kyle geiger returns to droid recordings for a three-track suite of techno and rhythmic experiments, jupiter storm. a1 (jupiter, hydrogen edit) builds from a rumbling kick, slowly constructing a space of delayed tones and filtered noisse pressure aimed at the dancefloor. b1 (mars) takes things for a truly unexpected turn, borrowing some of jupiter’s sonic language and reformulating a triple-metered groove with waves of noise and distortion. the title track, jupiter storm (b2) brings the full kick back into the picture riding the mars rhythms against the standard kick for a track that’s driving and infectious.

more abstract, forward thinking house music courtesy of transatlantyk. mondo hehe is the fifth ep in a growing catalogue of the label and is one of its most adventurous offerings yet. lutto lento (real name lubomir grzelak) is an experimental musician from warsaw, poland, who specialises in dark, spooky, uneasy music that s hard to categorise. apart from running two experimental cassette only labels (sangoplasmo and dunno recordings), lutto lento records music for contemporary theatre and forward thinking european labels like ftd and where to now? he is equally inspired by avant-garde and surreal sounds from the bygone eras as well as raw house and techno music of today. his music tends to absorb the listener into a parallel, imaginary world, where sounds of a lamenting cry of a trumpet (b2) and a voice counting numbers on top of the rolling exotica style bongos (a2) are as important as jacking chicago house drums (b1) and energetic basslines (a3). from the jumping beats of the title track, to the late night deep roller casino , the * mondo hehe ep* is a superb collection of non-generic house music that sounds as good at a club, as it does at home.

for the sixth release on people must jam, we headed to poland to find two very special guys that make up ptaki. ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album przelot those ripples have turned to waves. we are proud to announce their new record - antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal! ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied ep with four different cuts. kicking off with the crazy uptempo hi-nrg disco cut milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous balearic territory of termy. this blew us all away when we first heard it. on the flip lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the ep ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant radio roman. we are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record. 180g vinyl - strictly limited.

eleve welcomes leonid into the family with otherworld ep. the madrid-based irish producer has deployed during the last years some of the finest records of the house panorama, for labels such as sistrum, dolly or more recently freebeat. this record fits perfectly in the red series started in eleve 02 by dj f and jose rico, with the focus on the dancefloor. leonid brings a three-track ep whose amazing sound and percussion, trademark basslines and detroitish leads and pads promise to transport many dancers to other worlds. a side starts with xana, an esoteric house excursion with a mechanical edge. next track is púca, in the spirit of his deepest previous work with a characteristic syncopated bassline. b side long track is embarr, an adventurous imagination trip across the sea, classic leonid elements such relentless percussion and heavy bassline meets acid elements to create a one-way ticket to universal sub-conscience.

long-serving brit in san diego james clements dons his familiar asc guise once more, for a typically atmospheric trip into deep, ambient-influenced abstract techno for canada s silent season imprint. as usual, there s much to admire, from the sparse percussion, glacial electronics and icy melodies of deep freeze, to the minimalist, modular sounding hum of closer raging seas. arguably best of all, though, is immersion, which sees clements expertly combine early 90s style dreamy ambient chords, textures and melodies think pete namlook or early irresistible force with scraped metal textures and impeccable idm beats

tapan are from belgrade, hosts to disco not disco and now delivering two slow psychedelic techno bomb s to crimes of the future s letterbox. we first met nebjosa and the crew when we played at drug store in belgrade for them in early 2014. upon receiving these we knew they had crimes written all over them. on volumes we have two very special remixes of an already heavy original starting with willie burns taking them into the streets of manchester in the early 90 s and spending a night on at the hacienda with no thought of the gentrification approaching. drvcvltvre is the second provider and in true style switches out the lights and a spectre looms over the dancefloor dripping acid on the dancers below. the ep closes with whos there? featuring the brain melting guitars of vladimir djordjevic. quite a debut we think.

for the second release on her return to disorder label, helena hauff taps into the dark underbelly of the athens techno scene and presents the undoubted talents of greek producer morah. a resident at athens party phormix, morah has clearly been crafting his productions skills in private for some time as this three track 12inch is a powerful display of techno at its dankest. solution sets the tone, dipping into gnarled acid electro that seems to teeter on the brink of all out chaos with fellow a-side track take all similarly nasty. morah gets a chance to show his more experimental side with up in flames, a scorched exercise in freeform electronics with some particularly haunting vocals.

2015 has been a huge year for dj-kicks, marking both 20 years of the series as well as our 50th release. but far from slowing down, we’re already looking ahead to another incredible mix from one of our favorite artists. over the past decade, seth troxler has become a visionary and authentic voice in dance music, his jovial personality cutting through the noise and continually playing by his own rules. growing up between detroit and chicago, his musical education carries enviable credentials, with his stepdad a local radio personality who championed the early sounds of house music. true to troxler’s character, the mix has a whimsical nature and a thoughtful and timeless narrative, bearing a tenacious episode for the dj-kicks series that gives a true insight into the man behind the well-preened moustache and cowboy antics.
